O’zapft is! The Gold/Oktoberfest Beer Ratio 2026

This year’s 191st Oktoberfest is breaking all records—even before the traditional tapping of the first keg! At 240 Maß, the gold/Oktoberfest beer ratio has reached a new all-time high, surpassing the previous all-time high of 227 Maß set in 1980. Back then, however, a Maß cost only EUR 2.51. And gold was trading at EUR 569. Today, a Maß costs up to EUR 15,90, while the price of gold stands at EUR 3,827.

At the Oktoberfest 2025, one ounce bought “only” 186 Maß; in 2024, just 148; and in 2023, as few as 119. Gold’s purchasing power for beer has thus doubled in just a few years.
